Car Detailing in Plymouth MA | What Are Your Options?

Now that Plymouth is in the dead of winter, your car is taking a beating!  From road salt to small messes and spills, the winter is always a tough time when it comes to keeping your car clean inside and out.  That’s why, now more than ever, taking your car to a detailer can make a big difference!  But, with all of the options out there, how do you know what to look for?  What’s the difference between a Shop and Mobile Detailer?  How do I know if a detailer is trustworthy?  Well, we’ll help answer all of these questions and more!

Shop Detailing vs Mobile Detailing

What’s the difference between going to get a detail at a shop or with a mobile detailing business?  Well, we’ll start by defining both services.  A Shop Detail entails finding a detailing business with a physical location, dropping off your vehicle for the day, and picking it up when the service is complete.  At a shop, you don’t have to worry about inclement weather spoiling an appointment date, but with it comes the tradeoff of having to find a way to drop off and pick up your car, which may not be an option if you’re strapped for time.

That’s where Mobile Detailing comes in.  With a mobile detailer, they come to you, and complete all detailing work where the car is.  This is, of course, very convenient to get done, but if you book an appointment and the weather happens to be poor, you may need to reschedule.  Both service types have their pros and cons, but at the end of the day, the level of convenience desired makes the choice able to be made.

Choosing a Specific Detailer

Now that you know what type of detail you’re looking for, it comes time to find the right detailer for you.  But be careful!  There are plenty of detailing scams and shady businesses that can take your money, damage your vehicle, or worse!  We made an entire blog post about how to identity detailing scams here, but I’ll give the TL:DR here quickly.  Look out for Facebook posts from fake profiles, and when researching a specific company, look for a website/social media pages that all match up, lots of positive reviews, and an easy to find phone number.  For example, a legit business will (mostly) have a Google Business Profile, Facebook/Instagram Pages, a website, and more.  And when looking at past reviews, make sure that they’re all legit!  Again, it’s very important to do your due diligence when choosing a detailing business, as it can make or break your experience!

Comparing Prices

Depending on whether you’re looking for a shop or mobile detailer, and what your desired service is, the price you’ll be quoted for the service can vary, and by a lot!  While it may be tempting to jump at a lower price, just remember that oftentimes the price can indicate the quality of the service.  This also ties into the quoted time it’ll take for the service to get done, where quicker isn’t always better!  A $80 “interior detail” that takes 30 minutes is always going to be of a lower quality than a proper, $150+, 2hr+ interior detail, so long as you’re choosing a legitimate and vetted business to work with.
