Does Car Detailing Remove Smoke Odor | Smoke Odor Removal Service

Everyone knows that smoking in a car is obviously bad for the car’s interior, but just how bad.  It can be fixed quickly with a detail after all, right?  Well, it’s not as easy as it seems.  While a regular interior detail may help, it will not get rid of the odor of smoke, no matter how much shampooing and cleaning takes place.  Instead of a normal detail, what you’ll need is a Smoke Odor Removal Service—which is anything but a normal detail.

What is Smoke Odor Removal?

A Smoke Odor Removal Service is a service designed to remove the smell of smoke in a car’s interior, as well as the source of the smell itself.  This is accomplished with a full shampoo of all cloth surfaces, and an ozone treatment.

Step One | Shampooing

Before the smell can be fully removed, all cloth or carpeted surfaces on the vehicle are surfaced cleaned, shampooed, and extracted to remove the source of the smoke odor, which often is hidden in these surfaces.  Depending on the severity of the odor, the headliner may also receive this treatment, but with that comes the risk of headliner sagging.  Without this step, the smoke odor may return in the near future, making the service a waste of time!

Step Two | Ozone Treatment

Now, to remove the rest of the smoke odor, an ozone treatment is performed.  An Ozone Treatment is the process of using an Ozone Machine in the vehicle to attack the odor on a molecular level.  This process will vary in length depending on how bad the odor is, ranging from only a few hours to an entire day.  The news is, all that is needed is an Ozone Machine, and it runs on its own in the vehicle.  Without this step, there will always be a faint smoke odor, no matter how much shampooing and cleaning is done, which is why a Smoke Odor Removal Service is needed to actually get rid of a smoke odor.

As for pricing, a Smoke Odor Removal Service will always be more expensive than a regular detail, as it requires specialized tools and products, on top of more service hours to complete.  Depending on the condition/severity of the odor, prices can range from the $500 range, all the way up to over $1000.  So, if you plan on smoking in a car, this is your warning not to!
