Should I tip for Car Detailing?

For anyone that is new to getting their vehicle detailed, it can be tough to figure out how much, and if at all, to tip for a car detailing service.  After all, it isn’t an often-encountered situation, and there is often no standard practice/rate to follow, unlike that in a place such as a restaurant.  So, using experience, we’ll go over common tipping practices for car detailing.

Should I tip my car detailer?

First, it is important to distinguish between shop detailing and mobile detailing, where the extra convenience of having your vehicle detailed at the comfort of your own home may warrant a little extra cash.  But, at the end of the day, Should I tip my car detailer?  The answer is yes, but only if you want to.  Car detailers do not expect a tip, and are not paid at a reduced rate in expectation of tips, such as what a waiter at a restaurant would be paid.  Instead, tips are only seen as extra in the case of excellent service and a fulfilled client, and are always appreciated in any amount.  But, if you think you absolutely need to tip, don’t.
